Greetings Reader I returned from Houston earlier this week. As I've shared before, I miss my late dad, who always drove me to speaking events. Interestingly, upon my arrival, I sensed his presence, realizing he's always been there, working as a Del Monte truck driver. Ask and You Shall Receive.Indeed, things fell into place. During my stay with a cousin from my mom's side, I met her three sisters - more cousins to celebrate! Not only did she chauffeur me to the conference, but she also arranged for her friend, an Uber Black driver, to transport me on the day of my speech. This experience painted a clear picture of my future as a traveling speaker, a dream I've nurtured since my teenage years. When was the last time you vocalized your aspirations and appreciated them when they materialized right before your eyes? Moderated by Chaste Inegbedion, Chief Period Officer at Sanicle, this panel featured Jenna Ritten (who works at IBM), Nimi Bello, Adrian Rashad Driscoll, and Jonathan Exume! We had an insightful session on how AI is transforming workplace community culture while discussing AI's intersection with Digital Entertainment, Branding, AR/VR, and healthtech (I shared my PCOS story). The Black is Tech conference has such a laid-back atmosphere and personalized touch. I appreciate the smooth check-in process, delicious catering for speakers, and the chance to meet speaker coordinators and other tech gurus. The 1:1 mentorship sessions, especially with attendees who recognized me as a TEDx speaker, were the most enjoyable. I value the intimacy of the conference, providing ample networking chances and would definitely recommend it for next year. Watch my 10 minute portion of the panel here: https://youtu.be/rSCQzqfyGCs Myspace Users, rejoice! Now you can add music to your profile. However, please note that the music feature is only visible on the app version, and visitors can listen to the full 30 seconds without needing to click on any posts. I recently updated my app (in case auto-update isn't enabled in your app store) and selected a song from their recommendations. Prior to making my choice, I purposefully researched the lyrics of my top three options to ensure it resonated with me. Let the music set the vibe and speak for your page. This aspect emphasizes why it should create the initial impression for visitors browsing the first 9 grids of your Instagram feed. Stay tuned for more insights on this topic in September.
