Weekly Round Up: Live streams, TV Shows, and Movies, Celebrating Disability Pride Month! 🌟

Reader

What a week it's been! For me, It's been quite a week of getting my face out there! As an extroverted introvert, I love binge-watching game shows, TV series, and movies. This past week, between managing online seminars, I watched the Hulu TV Show called "Unprisoned" and admired Kerry Washington's use of recorded videos to share her healing journey on social media.

Questions for you to ponder:

  • From a branding perspective, when was the last time you went live to reintroduce yourself, your audience, and tell them how to reach you?
  • Did you know Instagram now lets you go live privately, record it, and post it later?
  • How are you leveraging existing online relationships and forging new in person ones?

I had a delightful lunch with Dr. Tamecca Rogers who I initially connected with online, and we met in person first at the Women Helping Other Women Butterfly Conference in June, and again during Essence Fest when I told her I was speaking at an event in New Orleans. We reunited this past week in Tulsa before I recorded my segment for Focus: Black Oklahoma.

Speaking of which, I attended a screening of Focus: Black Oklahoma and was thrilled to spot myself in the documentary. Stay tuned for streaming updates! For my latest segment, I interviewed Danielle Melton, a remarkable woman CEO who, with her husband, has fostered over 35 children since 2016, adopting one daughter. Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 21, at 4 pm EST/3 pm CST on NPR Oklahoma’s KOSU.org or TuneIn! If you miss it, catch the replay on Focus Black Oklahoma’s YouTube next week.

I also watched "Sound of Hope: Story of Possum Trot Texas," in theaters, after Danielle's recommendation. It is about the town that adopted 77 children. I highly recommend you watch the powerfully impactful independent film while it is still in theaters for another week.

Here's a roundup of videos to add to your watchlist.

This week, I had three insightful live conversations shedding light on my life with a disability. Watch my 11-minute chat with Nico Mayering, another individual with a disability.

I also had an 11-minute Instagram Live with Lillie Mae, host of the Glambitious Brunch, whom I connected with in person, in New Orleans. I talked about building my brand and Seeing Life Through a Different Lens: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9iDM1EAHXA/?

Additionally, I hosted in a 31-minute live conversation with Erin Perkins, a talented deafblind graphic designer with Usher’s Syndrome. Our paths crossed in a creative group, Rising Tide Society, leading to a meaningfully passionate dialogue:
